Organization Purpose

ADVENTIST PROFESSIONAL FELLOWSHIP

RATIONALE:

It is recognized that a large number of Seventh-day Adventists professionals have needs that are not met, concerns that are not addressed, and competencies that are not utilized for the advancement of the gospel. Many such professionals work and live in environments that constantly challenge their spiritual resourcefulness and call into question the ethical values to which they seek to adhere. Some are even torn between their religion and their vocations.

Of equal importance is the fact that many Adventist professionals function in virtual intellectual and social isolation from the rest of their colleagues and are therefore denied the stimulation. inspiration, and mutual support that some form of organized professional association provides. Through what avenues may one utilize one's professional skills and knowledge for the advancement of the truth? How can professionals best interface with one another and pool their resources for mutual enrichment and self-development and for the extension of: the Kingdom of God?

Many Adventist professionals feel that an organized association or fellowship will provide an appropriate setting where many of these needs and questions may be answered and these concerns addressed.

It is proposed therefore, that there be a coming together of Adventist professionals in Trinidad and Tobago with a view to organizing an association-

OBJECTIVES:

a_ To provide a social and professional support group that encourages members to keep current and growing towards the frontiers of their professions.

b. To develop an atmosphere and avenue for expressing and evaluating creative ideas in the context of the ideals and mission of the Adventist Church.

c. To provide a forum for Adventist professionals to interact and share their concerns and interests in Adventism.

d- Motivate professional productivity in terms of research, writing and publication, etc. thereby reducing exclusive dependency upon external sources of ideas while at the same time making meaningful contributions to the general body of knowledge in our various professionals.

e. Provide ready access to a professional pool for collaboration in fields of mutual interests and needs such as seminars, conferences, collequia, etc.

f. Provide ready access to a professional pool whose skills and competencies will be made available to meet the needs and challenges of the church, as well as of the larger society.

9- Bring a variety of perspectives to bear on current issues in the church which are of general interest or concern of the body of believers.

h- Develop a secure setting where isolated SDA professionals Vno may feel insignificant or out of touch with the heart and soul of the church life and mission may come to more fully experience what is to be a special part of God's program of redemption in contemporary times.

i. To provide an opportunity for professionals on the edge of Adventism, to recapture the Adventist vision and affirm the Adventist lifestyle.
